Because of his heart!! His story arc and his growth and what he did in the very end!!! I love how even he, a brainwashed military brute who had grown up in a society that romanticized the Occupation, learned to respect Kira, a Bajoran woman, and she made him realize how bad the Occupation really was. It takes courage and real humility to change your whole perspective like that. He stopped drinking, pulled himself together, and inspired his people to resist! He died saving not only his own Cardassia, but also the entire Alpha Quadrant. He became a hero and a legend. That kinda stuff just makes my heart glow. I love him and I’m proud of him.
