Do Your Part: Part 2

thespectacularspider-girl

So you want to do something about the purge?  Want to make your voice heard?  Take a lesson from previous consumer revolts.  Go after the money.  Companies rarely care about ethics unless it impacts their bottom line, so go after their bottom line.

Oath, parent of Tumblr (and several other sites) has recently partnered with Microsoft (namely Xbox, MSN and Outlook) to run ads.  A partnership with Microsoft would be huge for Oath.  In turn, it would be a damn shame if Microsoft knew people knew of their partnership and… I dunno, pulled out as a result!

Contact Microsoft’s outsourced Public Relations about how Oath is giving them a bad name through their partnership.

Microsoft Information:

What do you need to do?  Politely contact these companies.  Indicate your displeasure at their partnering with Oath and Verizon.  Indicate that this reflects poorly on Microsoft’s corporate character, partnering with a group that would pull the rug out from under it’s users like this.  Bonus points include:

  • Bringing up the censorship of art and stifling of artists
  • The decimation of the LGBT communities on the site due to this
  • The algorithm targeting LGBT content as inappropriate
  • The “female presenting nipples” comment
  • Oath’s inability to properly manage and making it’s users suffer for it
  • Oath’s inability to moderate Tumblr properly, resulting it being pulled from Apple’s store

Make Microsoft ashamed of partnering with Oath.  And, for bonus points, indicate you will no longer be using Microsoft’s products paired with Oath.  That is Xbox Live, MSN and Outlook.

Even if you do not use them currently, simply say you will be cutting ties with these products and will never use them.  Avoid telling them that you were never their customer, as this invalidates your opinion to them.  Avoid telling them that you will continue using these products, as this invalidates your opinion to them.

Make sure to share and do your part.
