“If you support [x], fictional or not” - no, back the fuck up, your premise is already wrong
Supporting someone’s right to create fiction you disagree with is not the same as supporting them causing direct physical harm to another human. It’s not in the same ballpark. It is not even tangentially related.
People. Consume. Fucked. Up. Fiction. All. The. Time. They have for all of human history, from Noh and Greek tragedies, to Shakespeare, to all kinds of classic modern literature.
If you’re going to argue that fiction creates harmful schemas, fine, argue that. But consumption or creation of fiction doesn’t equal endorsement. There isn’t a single theory in psychology, literary analysis, sociology, anywhere that suggests people’s taste in fiction is a 1:1 demonstration of their desires in reality. Even Freud didn’t claim that.
Fighting against people making fiction of a thing that makes you uncomfortable is NOT THE SAME as fighting against people who do that thing in real life. It’s not even related. Knock it off.
