Jaroslav Panuška
Being as enthralled with Folklore as I am, I am also casually interested in urban legends and creepypasta. For a while now there’s been this painting circulating the “inter-web” due to it’s eerie resemblance to Slender Man.

I’ve always felt a strong curiosity towards it, and I’m sure you can see why. Aside from Slender Man, it begs to the familiarity of other supernatural figures (and in truth it resembles things I’ve seen).
The painter of this masterpiece is Jaroslav Panuška. The work itself is titled, “Looking into the Window of One Dying.” I couldn’t find much about him aside from a Russian Wikipedia page that I’ll link below.
The more I looked into his artistry however, the more I fell in love with it. There is a quality of darkness and beauty to the Otherworldly that Panuška captures beautifully.
Here are some of the other works I’ve found:
The titles are as follows, left to right:
“Devil’s Mill”
“Visiting the Dead”
“Vodnik”
“Triskelion”
“Witch”
“Biddy in Mushrooms”
“Spirit of the Dead Mother”
“Revenge/Vengeance of the Dead”
Obviously, these are what they are known as in English. If there are enough requests for the Russian names I can post them.

I didn’t know about that painter, fascinating, thank you!
There’s only one thing to correct in your post @old-mother-hubbard - the Wikipedia page you linked as well as the painter is Czech, not Russian. I don’t see the point of providing Russian names that themselves are translations of the original Czech titles.
