One thing I never understood about the whole “No Re-Association with Past Live’s Relationships” is that its only been implemented once
When Jadzia and Lenara Khan were reconnecting.
I’m not talking about the trill in tng that had to get a new host, then tried to get with Doctor Crusher with no objections from other trill, trill were barely developed for even one episode at that point
But in ds9? Past relationships are supposed to include; family, friends, and lovers.
But Jadzia has been allowed to become friends with Captain Sisko, even though their friendship began with Curzon, and then Ezri was allowed to reassociate with no repercussions, and certainly with no care.
I realize being in starfleet would make it almost impossible to prevent reassociation, but if it was really that big of a taboo to where it resulted in exile of the symbiant? You would think the symbiosis committee would make sure they the joined trill could not be assigned anywhere near their former associates, or make it law stating that joined trill cannot join starfleet
My point is, the taboo is stupid and isn’t consistently applied
