Oh my god my eyeballs are burning. I just literally saw a shitty chain email from the 1990’s reproduced as a tumblr post about how ‘not to be a victim’ and ‘not to get raped’ and I am so tied of having to look at this bullshit.
Enough with the victim-blamey ‘tips’. They’ve never helped anyone because literally every woman after puberty knows that the world is shit and that she’s a target. Seeing those lists doesn’t make me safer it just makes me furious and sad and saps my energy. Stop reblogging this shit.
The problem isn’t us wearing ponytails, or having the audacity to park somewhere late at night and then have to go back to our car. Controlling women’s behavior should not be the conversation, teaching men to respect women and not rape them should be the conversation.
Our ideal scenario should not be ‘oh the stranger danger bad van man gets someone else’ it should be ‘we have a society where a man feeling entitled to a woman’s body and raping her is as rare as a human feeling entitled to another human’s flesh and killing and eating them in broad daylight’
