man okay imagine this: tekeny ghemor stays on the station. since he’s the closest thing kira has to a living family member, and vice versa, there’s still that mutual relationship between them, which not only provides the both of them with a very prudent and personal reason to examine their own biases, but also gives them someone they can be close to. ghemor can help babysit kirayoshi when the o’briens (kira included) need a break. additionally, ghemor would be another cardassian living on the station – someone else for ziyal to talk to. ziyal is at least a decade younger than iliana and/or kira, but I’m positive that she would be delighted to have ghemor as a sort of (grand)fatherly figure, especially considering that her relationship with kira is definitely an older sister-younger sister one. that way, there’s a whole family: ziyal, ghemor, kira, yoshi, keiko, miles. it might be a bit messy, but they all love each other, and that’s what matters.
