I frequently think of a scenario, where Kilana and Weyoun are entangled in a passionate, platonic relationship and how such things are considered filthy in their culture. All Vorta must maintain a level of detachment with their fellows, anything other than casual friendship, or mentor/mentee relationships are considered inappropriate. These grubby, intimate friendships, full of need and coddling are for other, less developed peoples, not for we Vorta!
In times of trouble, Kilana and Weyoun sneak of to each other’s quarters to whisper comforting words, pray together, groom each other and curl up, warm and cosy in the same bed. All the while, shame burns in their stomachs. They could be laying together, in the early hours of the morning, face to face, fingers interlaced, brushing each other’s knuckles, smiling at each other, warm and relaxed. Suddenly, one of them will falter, their smile fades, their hand slips away, leaving the other cold and empty.
““We can’t keep doing this, you know.”
“Yes…I know.”
