I learned when I was very young that if you act like you are supposed to be doing something, people don’t question you. I despise being questioned. So, the way you present yourself to the world is the way you are generally perceived and it often has to be tailored to the situation. You’ve heard the term “fake it til you make it” - well, that’s confidence in a nutshell. Pretend until it’s true. It also, I think for women especially, has to do with unlearning a lot of self-hatred that is programmed into us from infancy… which, I’m not going to lie, is a a lot of work.
Expectations are a big part of it too. People respond to the energy and expectations you put out into the world. I expect people to do what I say, so they do. I expect people to get out of my way, so they do.
But also, like, just look at me. What’s not to be confident about? ;)
