Well, personally, I headcanon that Cardassians are not true reptiles or true mammals. They are something else entirely, something we would call in between - ectotherms, but not very successful ones, heh. I call them tUrn’hU (warm scale). So, that being said, I imagine that the large scales (or scutes) that we see on the back of their necks go all the way down their backs and taper off just above the butt. The neck ridges descend and flatten against the rounded shoulders. The collar bone is scaled and they have the chest “spoon,” but I think their bellies would be smooth skin.
