What I like about Dukat is that they never made him particularly smart? I mean, he's not dumb or incompetent, but he isn't some mastermind like Khan or such. The threat he posed mostly stemmed form him just happening to be there. Somebody once said when writing shitty people, you should remember that while not everyone has moments of goodness, everyone has moments of normalcy and I think that's what made Dukat so effective as a villain.

i agree!! i think it’s so cool that instead of being like “oh he’s a MASTERMIND and even if he’s evil you have to RESPECT him,” they just went “he’s average. he’s extremely flawed. and he’s the face of all that is evil”
