I know this was probably intended as a shitpost, but my mind keeps going back to it and I want to address how destructive, albeit unintentionally, this kind of vitriol can be.
Art is a skill. Some people have a natural ability that can be honed with practice and guidance. Some people don’t. For example, by no means am I a great artist and I am always in awe (and a bit envious) of people who can create so seemingly effortlessly. That being said, I still get excited to share with my friends and others in fandom. In fact, my latest art post literally was me “playing with markers,” to quote the original, dismissive tags on this post.
Please allow others without an advanced skill-set to create and share without shaming them.
Some people are still learning. Some people will never get there. That’s no reason to ridicule them or make them feel “less than.”
Be kind.
