Livingston found another way to keep [the energy of Jadzia’s bachelorette party] up by requesting an unrehearsed performance from a very surprised Aron Eisenberg. “I didn’t have any lines that day, so I thought I’d just be mingling in the background,” says Eisenberg. “All of a sudden David [Livingston] says, ‘Okay, Aron, at the top of the scene Nog is going to be dancing.’ My jaw dropped, and I went, ‘What?’ He said, ‘You’re gonna lead the scene, so I need you to be dancing.’ And I thought, ‘Oh, my God, how the hell does Nog dance? He’s a Ferengi, so I can’t dance like Aron, but how do Ferengi dance?’”
“I just told him, ‘Make it as goofy as you want and I’ll tell you if it goes too far,’” Livingston laughs.
“I was really stressing out,” Eisenberg continues, but inspiration struck as he began talking to Nana Visitor about it. “I said, ‘You know what? l’m gonna do this!’ And I put my hands out kind of like a cat and I did a catlike growl: 'Gaaaaaggghhh.’ Then I leaned forward and growled again, 'Ggggaaaaaggghhhhh.’ I jumped to the right and brought my arms in and shook my butt and then jumped to the left and shook my butt, and then I went 'Ggggaaah, gggaaahhhh.’ I decided to call it the Ferengi Love Dance, because I was trying to win Nana over.
“And Nana just laughed and said, 'Yeah! Yeah! Do that!’ She was great, because I looked like a freak and she was acting like I was the most adorable thing in the world. So I did it for David and the rest of the crew and everybody was on the floor dying! I mean, the crew was laughing, and if you can make the crew laugh you know you’re doing all right.
“And then,” Eisenberg adds, “at the end of the scene Dax grabs me and does the dance with me. Well, that was never in the script. Terry Farrell just thought the dance was hysterical, so she joined in.”
