As someone who regularly writes letters and find they have a special kind of communication that you can only get in writing something by hand, I suggest if you guys are going to buy stamps you might as well start writing letters to your loved ones again. Have a best friend 500+ miles away or a friend living next door? Write them letters. You’ll learn something new.

I used loose leaf paper for the longest time, I bought special colored paper for fun. I have a bunch of smaller spiral notebooks–they are certainly less daunting because you don’t have a 8x11 page to fill.

Tbh, you could write on anything, I believe I’ve sent someone a letter that was the back of a pamphlet I found? Definitely if you’re not used to soliloquyinig on about your thoughts that you should start small. Rip a piece of paper in half.

The more you do it the better you’ll get at it. And there are assloads of compiled books of famous letter exchanges (I personally love Nabokov’s letter’s to his wife). And there’s lots of epistolary books (I recommend Evelina by Burney just because it’s fun). I’m bringing up these books because if you have no idea what to write about you might as well read up on famous letters.

I just want to point out that letters have given life to many hidden lives, we treasure the letters we have from wars, famous artists, and nobodies. Why not write some of your own?
