magpies aren't corvids so i don't think u made a mistake in not including them!

actually both the north american and eurasian magpies are true corvids, somewhere between a crow and a jay in size and appearance!
however, australian magpies are NOT corvids and are actually a member of the butcherbird family! they were named after the eurasian magpie just because of the coloration resemblance. however, they could probably beat either of the original magpies in a fight pretty easily.

Well that explains a LOT about why Australians are always claiming magpies attacked them and here in Britain we're like 'OK three of them gathered together and caused me bad luck....'
