Instead, we are given NO laws with teeth requiring people to stay home except for the essentials, NO federal laws requiring masks (with some state governors banning mask requirements), and NO stipend for staying home, which is on purpose, because they want us DESPERATE to go back out and work. DURING A PANDEMIC.
THIS IS ALMOST ENTIRELY A GOVERNMENT-TRYING-TO-MURDER-US-FOR-PROFIT ISSUE.
Shit-for-brains Becky with no mask working at Target wouldn't be near as much of a problem IF TARGET WAS CLOSED AND SHE WAS GIVEN ENOUGH MONEY TO STAY THE FUCK AT HOME.
and even if there is a chunk of the population that is going against stay-at-home orders, masks, and anything else meant to stop the virus from spreading even when their state government is in support of preventive measures (like mine is) it doesn't mean all of us are in that boat. you just see news about the people who are disregarding safety more because they make better headlines.
Pivoting from "wow, look at this systemic problem" to "wow, look at these individual bad actors" is a time honored tradition that ends in "See, it's not the government's fault. You can't govern stupidity/fraud/abuse."
You gotta fight that messaging, kids. You gotta fight the idea that a failure on this scale is somehow the fault of a bunch of bad individual decisions when the government is *right there* with the power to make those bad decisions infinitely less impactful.
