24/6/2020 We introduced the scruffy adolescent chickens to the adult chickens for an hour of supervised interactions.

For the most part, the adult chickens spent that time wondering what these tiny energetic things zooming all over the run were, where one could escape their cheerful peepings and flutterings, and how soon they’d go away.
By the end of the hour, the two groups were interacting a little.

The highest-ranking chick, who is somehow convinced she is as big and fierce as a volcanic eruption, wins a faceoff with one of the adults. She’ll beat you up! She’ll beat anyone up! She’ll beat herself up!

A slightly more sensible scruffy adolescent chicken loses a faceoff with an adult.

And then there’s this one, who has no idea whatsoever that someone is trying to have a social interaction with her.
