I never actually watched all of TNG so I am attempting to rewatch it and actually watch (almost) all of it this time (although even with alcohol I can’t handle Wesley-centric episodes).
And just watched the episode Home Soil.
Youns, first of all this first season has a lot of recycled plots from TOS, so I really gotta question why no one on this ship named Enterprise has ever heard of inorganic life before when a ship named Enterprise discovered silicon based life a hundred years before. I am offended on behalf of all Horta.
Secondly….this dude gets killed by a laser drill bc he’s operating from a console, with the laser drill mounted on the ceiling up above his head, and of course it turns on him and kills him and I am like…..
WHERE IS SPACE OSHA???
Bc that setup is inherently unsafe. Where’s the hardwired kill switch? Where’s the engineering controls to separate the human operator from the deadly machinery?
I HAVE QUESTIONS STARFLEET.
