it’s painful when fandoms get in fights over whether a female character is A Feminist Icon or Just Hot Garbage. more often than not, the core issue is just that she wasn’t written well, and some people relate to the character they want her to be, while others are taking her at face value.
I guarantee you the best summary of it all is a simple “she deserved better”.
*obvs there’s also the whole mess of internalized misogyny and differing definitions of feminism so, grain of salt, but I do believe this up to a point
