“Hey, why won’t you share your life/world saving vaccine?”
“Cause mum said I didn’t have to.”
It costs about 1 Billion dollars to develop a drug. If a pharmaceutical company couldn’t make money off of the vaccine at least for a little bit, all of the companies would fail after research and development. Which has to be funded somehow. And there’s not trillions of dollars to just go around everywhere. If making drugs and vaccines was as profitable as people think it is, just buy up pharma stocks now, because it must be foolproof if they can make all this money with no repercussions.
The vaccine research was publicly funded. The government paid them to make it. They dont need to keep making money off of something people need to survive when they were already paid to make it. I dont keep getting paid every time someone downloads an app i worked on because i already got paid to make it.
This is false. Pfizer did not accept money from the government to create the vaccine. They funded it themselves.
This took me 2 seconds of searching. Not to mention the government doesn’t cover the cost of the entire research process. A company is not going to go out of business to make one pass at a vaccine.
BioNTech, which partnered with Pfizer for developing this vaccine, received more money in public funds than Pfizer spent on it privately. Pfizer DID refuse to take government money, but they're still sharing the vaccine patent with a company that received public funding from Germany. they are manufacturing something which was predominantly funded publicly.
Maybe you should do more than "2 seconds of searching" by the way.
Most medical r&d is done with government money--YOUR MONEY. stop defending corporations.
