Telpha is half andorian, half Aenar (no, Aenar never went extinct, why would you even say that?!). They spent their childhood as a part of the Aenar society and were raised in this culture.
Other than most Aenar, Telpha isn’t completely blind, but has very bad eyesight. On the other side, they also don’t have the strong telepathic abilities as ‘full’ Aenar. Telpha had to spend a lot of energy and time to learn, what came naturally to everyone around them. After years of training and slow progression, they eventually reached the same level of telepathic ability.
Telpha is gentle, warm-hearted, strong-willed and placid. Their Aenar-half makes them pacifistic. Only close friends and family are allowed to witness their wild, enthusiastic and playful side. They love to sing, to dance and to disco.
At age 12, Telpha moved from the Aenar society to the andorian to meet their 3 prospective spouses and learn more about their culture. They regulary come back to the town, in which they grew up, mainly to meet their personal teacher for telepathy.
Telpha’s 2 Aenar parents live in the respective society and also raise their grandchild (the child of Telpha and their spouses) the Aenar way, to pass down the culture of a species with alarmingly few individuals.
As an adult, Telpha works as a teacher for telepathy themself.
A sidenote regarding Telpha’s name: I headcanon Andorians and Aenar using the same alphabet/letters. But there are a few letters, that represent different sounds in both languages. Like the letter, that represents the F-sound for Aenar, represents the P-sound for Andorians. And that’s exactly the letter appearing in Telpha’s name.
Since they grew up in Aenar society, their name is supposed to be pronounced as „Telfa“ (ok I simplified it a bit to make it shorter, but Telfa comes pretty close to the correct pronunciation).
But people, who only know or are used
to the andorian pronunciation call them „Telpa“. The latter are a
vast majority, but Telpha corrects them all with angelic patience.
