How to love Dukat
Does anyone else out there just really REALLY enjoy Dukat’s character? Let’s get this clear, I fucking hate his actions and personality, with that said- HE’S SO ENTERTAINING. Tell me one, just ONE Dukat scene where he wasn’t sticking his foot up his own ass, puffing himself up in the most hilarious of ways, or just generally giving you ‘what the fuck’ vibes.
I have zoned out only to be pulled back in by some shitty thing Dukat is ranting about. I use to be naïve in thinking that at some point DS9 would ATTEMPT to SORT OF redeem him. Nope. He’s terrible. You know when he’s on screen that you’re going to be fed junk food. And you eat that shit up. Never a dull moment.
He’s not a lizard, he’s a giant fucking peacock that can’t stop crowing.
I love that the entire crew constantly troll him at every opportunity. I love that Garak hates him. I adore when Bashir embarrasses him. I love Kira’s distain for him. I love that Dukat has an obvious crush on Sisko and how it drives Sisko insane. I love that Dukat is completely irredeemable and thus such an open target for just meming the fuck out of him.
That’s not without saying that he is really pretty eye candy. He struts around like an exotic lizard with a fragile ego. His actor’s voice and performance combined with the make-up are always spot on. Dukat loves himself, and it’s clear that his actor loves his character. It must have been a fabulously fun villain to play.
