haldrada-reblog asked:
What would a redesign of a Bolian look like?
polarwooly answered:
Like this:
Since Bolarus IX orbits a type B star at a considerable distance (one assumes), the home world of the Bolians is subject extreme 250-earth-year seasons. Constantly shifting ice sheets render almost all land uninhabitable for at least part of the local year, most life on the planet is either aquatic or flight capable and mass migrations are commonplace.
The Bolians themselves are a beautiful shimmering blue, protecting against the severe UV radiation of their sun. They have strong social ties and are commonly highly adaptable to both new peoples and environments.
They tend to flourish on multi-species integrated ships, being considered friendly and hard-working by others. They are also known as undiscriminating eaters, able (and sometimes willing) to digest nearly anything.
