One fireman has already died after my part of Germany has been flooded with unusual amounts of rain. For the last two days, we have had more rainfall in an hour than we normally have in months. All this is happening after two consecutive years of drought where we beat heat record after heat record. It is getting really hard for me to think about the future and not be completely overwhelmed with dread. I just hope that everyone who is still out there makes it home safe.
Update: 20 confirmed dead and the numbers are rising. 70 missing in one village alone after an entire street collapsed. Please stay safe everyone an don’t go into your basements if your house has been affected even if you think it’s safe now.
