17) What is something you own that is important to you? What makes it so important?
My print of Toby & the Goblins by Brian Froud. Labyrinth has been one of my favorite films for… like, forever, and I was so psyched to meet Brian Froud at Comicon back in 2006. He was selling original prints of a painting he did as concept art for the film back in the 80s. He only had a few of them and they were all yellowed around the edges because they were from the first printing. I didn’t buy one because I was raised poor and $30 felt like a lot of money - and when I told my friend how much I liked it, she told me I would be sorry if I didn’t go get it. And she was right, which is why I’m so glad I did go back and get one (and signed at that!). It’s probably my favorite piece of art that I own.
19) Do you believe in love at first sight?
Yeah. I’d like to say I don’t, but I’ve had it happen. I’m not sure it’s love as much as the awareness of an intense connection and that this person will inevitably be someone you will love.
20) What’s the sweetest thing someone has done for you?
I was in a terrible car accident in Miami. I was hurt and my car was totaled and I didn’t know anyone who lived there. My ex dropped what he was doing and drove down from Washington DC (about 16 hours one way, not counting stops) to come get me and bring me home. He also bought me a new car to replace the one that was destroyed.
25) What’s a song that gives off good vibes anytime you listen to it?
All Night Long by Lionel Richie - it sounds like a happy summer evening on a tropical beach with friends.
