it really does a disservice to bi women when y’all talk about us as if we’re inseparable from straight women, or how we can so easily relate to straight women’s experiences simply because of the fact that we’re women who are attracted to men. the ways straight women talk about men and conceptualize their attraction to men is just something that i’ll never be able to relate to because of my bisexuality, and this probably won’t make sense to anyone who isn’t a bisexual woman but i know that soooo many bi women feel similarly. listen to bi women when we talk about our experiences and don’t try to force us to distance or alienate ourselves from the lgbt community.
This reminds me of that post about Janelle Monae that talked about how our attraction to multiple genders changes our perception of/relationship to gender in general, which changes the ways we’re attracted to people. In sum, for the millionth time: we are not straight.
