I was at the local urgent care today because I am sick, and there was a homeless woman trying to schedule an appointment for tomorrow. The nurse at the desk said to her "sweetheart, you know just because you don't have an appointment today doesn't mean you aren't welcome to stay here for as long as you want." I almost cried; so often I have seen the opposite. I wish we welcomed homeless people into public spaces more. I feel like the notion of "loitering" is so cruel and violent (especially in the cold winter). People deserve shelter and warmth.
