Something we - and by we I mean myself - don't talk about enough is that Profit, for Ferengi, is not just a status thing. It is literally an essential part of their religion. You need money to be able to bribe yourself into a next life, so yeah... I kinda understand why Quark who is under the assumption that he has to aquire enough money for his entire family to pass on one day, is a bit stressed about this.
it's been years probably since i ranted about this but ds9 is completely incoherent on religion when you consider how it bends backwards for bajoran religion but shows nonstop scathing contempt for ferengi religion even though ferengi religion gets a LOT fewer people killed
