I was never super happy with the costume decisions made for Ziyal in the show (she looked really… Ren Faire-ey for a girl running around a space station). Here’s my take on one of her canon outfits, and a new outfit with a more Bajoran influence.

my journey through DS9 continues! I got attached to Ziyal immediately, which I hope is the only thing I’ll ever have in common with Gul Dukat. I’ve already been spoiled for her… everything, and I’m sad about it, because a character with her potential deserved better writing than what’s coming up. Ah well… I’m glad I’ll get to see her again at all, at least.

Tora Ziyal was a sweet girl that deserved so much more, and I sincerely wish her story didn’t end the way it did.
“I’ve missed this,” Arati said, the setting sun reflecting in her dark eyes.
“The view? You said you came here all the time?”
“The company,” she smiled, inclining her head. “You.”
She gently wrapped her scaled fingers around Ziyal’s softer ones and squeezed them.
“Being with someone whose hand I don’t want to let go off.”
Ziyal smiled, her neckridges blushing a gentle shade of purple.
“It’s really nice,” she agreed softly.
“The view?” Arati’s right eyeridge lifted teasingly, spawning a giggle from her mate.
“You.”
